Bulldogs 9 Cowboys 3

Unread post by speckled trout »

Good win all around and nice to bounce back from last weekend. Tulane’s RPI is now 82. Losing these midweek games really killed us the last couple of years, and the weekend losses too. Wave improves to 11-6 heading into its series with UC Riverside.

All the pitchers were bulldog’s tonight.

What about Mr. Niemann? This kid had four more hits tonight. And Luke Glancy with another HR. It is crazy to think Bedgood is not seeing the field at all. A lot of depth.

As we get closer to conference play, who would be your weekend starters. Based on performance to date, I would go with the following -

1B Jensen
2B Artigues
SS Gozzo, but I would give Burns or Hoese a look.
3B Hoese - if he slides to SS, I would give a look at Bedford.
RF Haskin
CF Owen
LF/DH Matthews/Glancy
C Niemann

The weekend bulldogs -

Friday - Roper
Saturday - I still think Keagan will get back to form; if he doesn’t this weekend, I would start Trent Johnson
Sunday - Solesky

The only relievers I would use in conference are Johnson, Whelan, Campbell, Raj, and Pellerin. I want to see Boeneke and Segar throw more innings this weekend and next. They deserve a shot. I want to see what their control looks like in a meaningful part of the game.

since I'm only half paying attention, did Bates get hurt in that last start or is it possible he's going to get Gillies' slot on Saturday... or, is he in the doghouse for walking the ballpark and getting yanked early last week? Essentially being treated like a bulldog while not actually being a bulldog.

I'd like to see Cellucci get some action this weekend out of the pen to see if he can get on the right track.

Agree that the midweek and weekend losses have been the problem the last couple years.

We have a lot of growing up to do, I’ll tell you that! Ridiculous! Completely ridiculous! You know what hurts the most is the midweek losses! You know? That’s what hurts the most. Except for the… except for the weekend losses. That hurts the most. But the weekday losses hurt the second most.

Brutal. But funny.

This place is starting to remind me of conversations while deployed, on the midwatch, about two months into a six month deployment with no port call in sight. Woe to the person who shows a weakness or says something memorably stupid. That was our sport.
