R.J. McGee offered for hoops

Unread post by randymc »

Here's a bit more on 6-5" G/F Robert R.J. McGee of Chicago, offered for hoops by Tulane in the last day or so. He played in Chicago as a high schooler in the Public League with Kenwood HS, which has risen in stature the last couple of years to compete at the highest level of Public League ball in that basketball hotbed of a city. After high school he moved on to TaylorMade Prep school and was the high scorer (21 ppg avg) on that 17-13 team this year. TaylorMade btw played vs. Delgado Comm. College in January at the Alario Center and McGee was high scorer for his club in that game. Mercer, UL Monroe and others have been interested in McGee. He has 3-pt range and is very athletic.

Here is another name to watch; Kansas State transfer Goodnews Kpegeol, a 6-6 G/F, was a player at TaylorMade Academy for a post-grad year just like R. J. McGee, who is visiting Tulane in a week or so. Kpegeol redshirted after enrolling at Kansas State on basketball scholarship this past season. Now, he will transfer as a redshirt frosh with 4 years to play. No reason he won't be immediately eligible for 2019-20 season.

No reason other than normal rules, but he can probably come up with some waiver reason

Well, if he signed here that would certainly be...

...encouraging.

RJ McGee is indeed in New Orleans this weekend; hopefully gets to see some of French Quarter Fest. Coach Hunter and Coach McCallum were pictured last night on Twitter with the young man.

for those following along, RJ McGee and family members were at the Tulane spring game on the sidelines with AD Dannen and others, including of course head Coach Ron Hunter, asst. Claude Pardue and asst Kevin Johnson.
