Only Wichita and ECU actually have TV for all their home games so they can review callswave-em in wrote:Can somebody explain why that HR wasn't reviewable?
I guess they can't/didn't/won't use the monitor from all-access
I'm not sure what the reasoning is either but that's the rule they're going with
as has been demonstrated, their judgement is to be questioned

Some test exchanges postgame between the coaching staffs

I don’t exactly get why we’d be pissed at their coaches?1309th WAVE wrote:Some test exchanges postgame between the coaching staffs

I imagine that, since our video is produced by Tulane, they are leery of a conflict of interest.1309th WAVE wrote:Only Wichita and ECU actually have TV for all their home games so they can review callswave-em in wrote:Can somebody explain why that HR wasn't reviewable?

The video CLEARLY shows where the ball hit--there is screen distortion that radiates out in all directions from the point of impact.
Hopefully, the league will recall this umpiring crew for incompetence.

Only because the umpire's call is final.wave-em in wrote:Clearly not a HR
But in the real world, it very clearly hit the scoreboard nearly halfway up. Watch closely, tracking the ball. It disappears in the harsh backlight of the scoreboard, but suddenly you can see a momentary ripple radiate from the point of impact, and it happens at exactly the point where the track of the ball would be at that level. It struck just above the word "TODAY."
Re: UCF game 2
Actually the umps go it right. On twitter Adam Ney of WWL posted his video and the ball clearly hits the wall below the yellow line. It went so high that the view gets skewed by the video board.Roller wrote:Only because the umpire's call is final.wave-em in wrote:Clearly not a HR

I don’t know if that play is reviewable anyway. The replay rules sound like they can only use video replay to determine if it is a home run or a ground rule double. It doesn’t address this situation.1309th WAVE wrote:Only Wichita and ECU actually have TV for all their home games so they can review callswave-em in wrote:Can somebody explain why that HR wasn't reviewable?

From NCAA rule book:
“Getting the Call Right with the use of video review:
SECTION 2. The following plays will be reviewable by the crew chief at his discretion at any time during the game or with the use of a coach’s challenge (each coach is permitted two challenges per game):
b. Deciding if a batted ball is either a ground-rule double or a home run”

Re: UCF game 2
Here's a little experiment that anybody can do if they have an LED TV (which just about everyone has, these days).
Turn on your TV and tap your knuckle at any spot on the screen. You will see a distortion (momentary change in color density) radiate out from the point where you make contact. That is exactly what we can see in the All Access video.
The WWL video that everyone is using seems to be from a slightly different angle and is also color-enhanced to make the ball visible--but that eliminated the momentary distortion at the point of impact.
It is what it is, there is no redress. But it is a travesty.
