Had our Junior Day today. Probably a good chunk of our top targets within easy driving distance and closer were on hand.

Narcisse is a DL and the DL from Ehret’s last name is Jenkins.

I don't know why but I kept thinking about Fat Pat Washington, the former NFL DT and blew that one. I switched Narcisse to DL, but I've been told by a little birdie that our coaches prefer him at OG.

I know we’re going after more kids but it’s interesting that there were no QB’s in that group

Maybe you don't what to tip your hand regarding QB's - if that's even possible.

That list is confined to the guys that tweeted about their weekend on campus.

Who are the big fish on that list? Who are the ones we are closest to getting a commit? And from a talent standpoint, is this an upgrade from previous years? Thanks.

I have never heard of Arabia Mountain in GA. Have no clue as to where it is and have never heard anything about their athletic or academic programs.

Just offered MS QB/ATH Randy Anderson. Looks like Mississippi Bradwell.

2020 Football Recruiting

Post by tjtlja »

Looking at Rivals and 247, there are so many teams as of today who have anywhere from 5 to 15 commitments at this point. In the AAC, a number of teams have a half dozen being reported. Do we have any at this time? I would think we would, and probably have chosen not to disclose any at this time. Any thoughts?

Frtiz uses pub as a tool so presumably any and all "commitments" to date have agreed to keep it sub rosa. (Yes I do believe Tulane does have some commitments at this time.) I do know that he has expressed concern that Tulane's recruiting list had become a safety choice for P5's looking to fill up at the last minute. (e.g., Under the radar QB flipped by Mack Brown at the finish line last year.)

At same time, no announcements means no public momentum and presumably less chance for peer recruiting (where an announced commitment publicly works on targets to join him.) Plus as you imply, it's less fun for the fans speculating about all this.

TU23, any thoughts on the amount of current commitments, and is it safe to say the days of giving some signs by Coach on Twitter are gone?

We made two interesting in-state offers very recently. One was to Noah Taliancich of Destrehan, a big DE currently committed to ULL. He’s similar to Caleb Thomas and Sean Wilson, IMO. The other was to Caleb Anderson of East Feliciana. His dad played at Tulane, Cedric Anderson, I believe, who played in the 90’s. Caleb is a good HS QB whose future is on defense.

The signs by Coach are going to be likes and re-tweets only. They're letting the players make the announcements now.

I think recruiting is going about on the pace as it has previously. We'll see a handful of commitments by the end of June (after camps start). We'll be at 10 or so at the end of the Summer.

I think Noah Taliancich is a huge Tulane fan and has been waiting on this offer, so I wouldn't be surprised if he switched his commitment. He was also offered by UCF on the same day we offered him.

We're casting a wider net than we have in some time. We have coaches spending a lot of time in the Midwest, in Tennessee, in the Carolinas and even in California. We're not settling for kids who have a lot of question marks.

I’ve known Noah’s family my whole life. Longtime Tulane fans.

I’m pretty sure this is just an attempt to get Windy back on YOGWF.

I don’t know how hard we were recruiting Khi Mathieu but he committed to Memphis today.
