Re: Houston / UCF
Actually, we control our own fate. We simply have to win the tournament. A Houston win might make that more difficult, but it does not destroy our chances.NJwave wrote:...Our postseason hopes rely on a UCF win.
Our team must adopt and exploit an attitude that we will win every game from here on out. I'm not completely sure of the playoff format, but I think we need to go 4-0 (or perhaps 5-1) to take the automatic berth.

Re: Houston / UCF
whether or not ECU's really motivated to win Clearwater, they can still roll through most of this conference without trying
if we could avoid their side of the bracket, it would behoove us in my opinion
Of the pool of UCF, Memphis, Cincy (and us, naturally) UCF might be the toughest one to beat but it's definitely preferable to the other pool which would be stacked by comparison

When David walked out to confront Goliath, he was not thinking, "boy this will be tough. I sure hope I can survive."
No, he was thinking, "The bigger they are, the harder they fall."

Re: Houston / UCF
while I do like the go-get-'em attitude, I do not like the thought of pitching to Joe Davis at 8 in the morning
We do only need to control what we can control, but we've had some issues with trying to control what we can control, if you know what I mean
UCF comes to bat B6

2nd and 3rd 1 out for UCF
they... held the runner at 3rd and the throw home ended up sailing over the catcher

Re: Houston / UCF
heading top of the 8th 10-8 UCF
Re: Houston / UCF
Dumb question. Why didn’t Solesky pitch yesterday? Pitching today means he is not available to start until Thursday. Thus, if lose the opener we are going with Gillies or Johnson in game 2.

It's been unofficially officially confirmed we'll go with Johnson regardless of if the game's Wednesday or ThursdayNJwave wrote:Dumb question. Why didn’t Solesky pitch yesterday? from there, anything goes pretty much
Re: Houston / UCF
Solesky is pitching better than anybody the last few weeks. Top 9th still 10-8. Top of order for Houston.1309th WAVE wrote:It's been unofficially officially confirmed we'll go with Johnson regardless of if the game's Wednesday or ThursdayNJwave wrote:Dumb question. Re: Houston / UCF
leadoff double
it's mathematically impossible for joe davis to not bat this inning

Unless he gets tossed arguing somebody else’s balls and strikes. They intentionally walked the tying run in Davis. That is some stupid cajones.1309th WAVE wrote:leadoff double

Re: Houston / UCF
We need to win a minimum of 4 games. Solesky cannot pitch them all. We need to count on everybody, and I'm not going to let any doubts creep in to dissuade me from believing in the team, despite the frustrations we experienced along the way. It's not how you get there; it's where you end up.NJwave wrote:1309th WAVE wrote:It's been unofficially officially confirmed we'll go with Johnson regardless of if the game's Wednesday or ThursdayNJwave wrote:Dumb question.
