There have been some really outstanding players to play Green Wave baseball over the years, but Hoese may be the best ever.

just to play Devil's Advocate, I'll offer a name from the past: Steve Mura who, one year, had a 22-1 record and was called the best RHP in college baseball by The Sporting News (back when that was the BIBLE for baseball fans) and went on to a nice career with the San Diego Padres :-)

Hoese is a very good player who had a great season. He’s not the best ever to play for Tulane.

For a college career he’s really not even close.

I agree with both of y’all. He had one of the best seasons in a while but we’ve had some really good players through our history.

Okay, I may have overstated my evaluation of Hoese, but think about this, the year he had was so overwhelming that how would we feel about him had he played on a more competitive team. For him to have that year while his team was just a smidge over .500 is amazing. Imagine what he could have accomplished in the early 2000s.
