I thought the same thing!

I would have rathered the Cubs get him, but did have a Dodgers helmet when I was young due my mom being a Dodgers fan (for whatever reason).

Those Tulane connections in the Dodgers organization come through again. Congratulations Kody!

MLB.com post-mortem:

"25) Dodgers: Kody Hoese, 3B, Tulane
Hoese hit just five home runs and went in the 35th round to the Royals as a Draft-eligible sophomore a year ago, then exploded for 23 homers this spring and bashed his way into the first round. He has a ton of right-handed pop thanks to his quality swing and the leverage in his 6-foot-4 frame. Hoese has a disciplined approach that allows him to get pitches to punish. He also moves well for his size and should be able to stick at third base."

Shooter was our last first round pick in 2008 and this was the highest since Bogusevic went 24th in 2005.

Hamilton was end of 2nd round. Bogey was first round. Like you said, Shooter was a sandwich pick.

He couldn't! Almost 12 BB/9 and 59 wild pitches in under 200 innings!

Walker Buehler of the Dodgers is talking up Hoese and Coach Jewett in an article in the Athletic. Says Jewett knows how to teach hitting.

No one is arguing the hitting was really good, and he deserves credit.

If he keeps talking him up, maybe the Dodgers will hire him.

He'd make an excellent big league hitting coach. Fully endorse

Thanks for the count Dave. I'm assuming Memphis had none also.

no losses thru first 10 rounds; Hoese only Wave-related pick from existing roster or newcomers to be.

The 3 from ECU shown above taken in the 1st 10 rounds are:

1) 1b - Brickhouse
2) LF - Parker
3) P - Agnos

Lets hope all 3 of those guys go pro.
(they killed us over the years)

Question: What do u think about Mathews plying 1st base next year? (if he stays) :?
