That’s huge. He’s already won over $100k by advancing to the second round. So awesome. Hopefully this will get him direct entry into some atp events.

Up next is 24 seed Diego Schwartzman of Argentina. That will be a tough out, bit good luck!

Confused, is this where we get mad that the headline calls him "Former Tulane tennis star"?

If I'm interpreting your question in its intended context, my answer would be, "No, he actually is a former Tulane tennis star, so it reflects why he's being singled out for the article."
In other cases where fans are legitimately irked by the local press' depiction of in-transferees to Tulane, it is analogous to describing an Army General as "Former Lieutenant Jones." That is an insulting characterization, even though it is true.

But this does not address the DJ Lemahieu scandal?

Is 0-3 career against his opponent in second round, but came close to beating him in December when they played last

Watch the 2nd round match online here

http://www.espn.com/watch?id=ac3e57df-c ... be4596e264 via @ESPN App http://espn.com/app

Quite a few shots of some dude in a Tulane tennis t-shirt and angry Wave hat.

Dom wins 1st set. Opelka is a tall 22 y/0 Isner clone with a big 1st serve. Dom sweating profusely. His sneaker and clothing sponsor appears to be Saucony. Dom needs to get more consistent with his first serve to win the match.

Dom up a break in the 2nd and opelka had lower back issues and takes a medical timeout. Dom reminds me a bit of Baghdatis. Really smooth strong ground strokes.

Dom up 2-0

Loses in 4 sets. Tiebreaker in the 4th. This was his 7th match in 11 days. Just one heck of an effort for a qualifier to get this far and give the number 5 player in the world such a scare. It was surreal seeing all the Tulane shirts in the crowd. After the match it looked like Medvedev was trying to mock all the Wave chants. Either that or he was doing some really odd dance.

Anyway, thanks Dom for representing Tulane with such class and effort.

Lost in straight sets to Pedro Martinez at Aussie Open

Ranked in the 80s, so didn’t need to go through qualifiers.
