Little League WS - SW Championship game -

Unread post by sr »

The kid throwing from River Ridge (Eastbank) should get an offer tomorrow. At 12 he's got a great 72mph fast ball. The kid from Texas ain't bad either.

LA won and headed to the LLWS. Believe i'st the first time a team from Metro New Orleans has made it to the WS.

Questions:

When did New Orleans are baseball switch to Dixie Youth and when did they switch back to Little League?

Isn't there some sort of population restriction which is why this team is River Ridge not New Orleans and why it's usually smaller areas producing these teams? Or maybe they removed that?

I don't think there is any kind of population restriction, unless it's new in the past few years. Let's not forget the inner city Chicago team that eventually was discovered to be cheating (2015). Remember teams are representing their Little League "chapters" if you will.. which in the larger cities are generally playground based. The River Ridge team is more than likely the travel squad compiled from the River Ridge Little League. Here in Charlotte, you'd have a Pineville team, a Myers Park team, South Charlotte team, etc.. all based on the organizations and their home "playgrounds."

Locally, several playgrounds choose not to participate in the little league organization. It's fairly expensive and a hassle.

Louisiana/River Ridge beats Hawaii to make it to the final. On a side note, Tulane should offer Reece Roussel of RR who collected at least 15 hits over the week -

Tend to agree, but the kid's favorite college baseball team is LSU. Might be a little hard to get him to commit

I give about five years of Curtis dominating LLWS and then the LHSAA will demand that the River Ridge teams be placed in the same playoff pod as Taiwan because they recruit tweeners. :green wink:

Meanwhile good luck to our local players and may they bring back the championship today!

? To those who know: Is the Jeffrey Curtis on the LLWS champ team the son of the 1998 football QB for Tulane? (It’s a big family so I bet they’re related. Just curious as to how close.)
