Top 5 sandwich spots for the 2019 college football season

Unread post by OGSB »

Houston - Week 4 at Tulane (after Washington State, before North Texas)
First-year Houston head coach Dana Holgorsen has quite the schedule to navigate. A tough non-conference slate, headlined by Oklahoma in Week 1, gets even trickier in the middle of September. The Cougars play two teams they're projected to be underdogs against in Washington State and North Texas in Weeks 3 and 5, respectively, with a potential trip-up game on a short week at Tulane jammed in the middle. And though the Green Wave are also on short rest for that contest, they're at home the game prior against FCS Missouri State.

Wow, Houston's gonna be an underdog to North Texas? I haven't paid any attention to UNT but I thought Houston was projected to be pretty good...

UNT is pretty good. I would say they have questions about the health of D’Eriq King.

Im sure Holgorsen with his astute coaching ability will know to rest King against us so he’s ready for the big match up with North Texas.

I totally thought it was going to be a story about the best sandwiches in towns with FBS teams where you could catch a game and have the sandwich before or after the game. It actually took me a second to figure out what the heck they were talking about when it opened with stuff about Houston.

Exactly … and thanks for mentioning Domilies's - now I'm craving at least three Po-Boys.

You are all wrong about the sandwich spots.

(I have no dog in this fight, I'm just posting this for WaveProf who must still be summering in Spain because he'd be all over this thread if he were online right now and he'd tell y'all the "real" best sandwich in New Orleans and it would be from some little-known place that y'all haven't been yet)

Without even getting into the who has the best cheesesteak in Philadelphia debate, there are some pretty good choices even for non-cheesesteaks here. Not New Orleans good, but pretty good.

Charlotte is a sandwich/sub shop desert. When the best sub you can get is from the Publix deli... it's bleak. I would KILL to have a "not as good as it used to be" Domilise's here.

I was leaving one of my 5 spots for a Philly cheesesteak.

There are some NOLA expats who have opened a place in Johnson City. They are only open 12-6 three days a week, drive down to La every week to buy fresh seafood and other goods. I saw a photo of their muffuletta, if is the first one I have seen in this area that is on the appropriate loaf of bread, have been told it is great. Hope to get over and try it soon.
