2020 Football Commitments
Re: 2020 Football Commitments
Question for TU23, LG, or Featherwave - are we involved with any RB’s. I know we really wanted Harlan Dixon from Slidell who committed to Tech. Is there anyone on our board that they really want? Thanks.
Re: 2020 Football Commitments
Anderson committed to USL. Probably should have pulled the trigger on Tulane or UVA earlier
Re: 2020 Football Commitments
This one stings. Father played at Tulane. Thought for sure he was ours. And USL makes me sick. On to the next guy.

Re: 2020 Football Commitments
curious decision if the offers from UVA and Tulane were still actionable
Re: 2020 Football Commitments
I wonder if our offer was still on the table..... I personally don't think it stings. Still feel Fritz will go to 25, just there's no room until after the season, when we will find out what 4th years juniors may graduate.
Re: 2020 Football Commitments
Hard to believe we would have pulled the scholarship. Too good of a player at a position of need. Perhaps UL just beat us for Anderson. Same for Tech with Dixon.
Currently, we are 44, Tech 61, and UL 70 on 247.
On Rivals, we are 42, Tech 39, and UL is not rated (Lsu is #1).
Louisiana recruiting is as competitive as it has ever been.

Re: 2020 Football Commitments
I'm not checking (or maybe I couldn't if it's pay) but I'm guessing LSU is #1 with half the commitments that any of those other three have right now, and those other three all have way more commitments than the "name" schools below them?tjtlja wrote:Hard to believe we would have pulled the scholarship. Re: 2020 Football Commitments
UVA got two commits at DB last week. I'm pretty sure if we wanted him, we could have had him. He should have committed a couple of weeks ago (to either us or UVA). He messed up.

Re: 2020 Football Commitments
I'm pretty sure his UVA offer was non-commitable after his visit there. They got two safety commits within two days after he left campus, and I think that was his window. As far as we're concerned, I'm not sure what posture we're taking from here on out, but I have a feeling we aren't accepting any commits from anyone unless we feel like there is a can't miss prospect near the top of our class. We might find a way to sign more than 22, but I don't think we're taking any commits or making any commitments to players right now unless its a true difference maker. I'm not sure Anderson fits that description (I'm sure I just jinxed myself and we'll get a commit this afternoon).

Re: 2020 Football Commitments
I think we’re down to a couple of positions until something shakes loose. I think we’d take the right receiver right now, for example, maybe something else.

Re: 2020 Football Commitments
Sometime today 247 updated Tulane’s commitments. Some of them climbed up while a couple went down. Overall our composite rate went up about 40 basis points.
Re: 2020 Football Commitments
Billow, I noticed Rivals also did an update today. Still 13 of 22 rate 3 stars. All 22 on 247 still at 3 stars.
On 247, we are sitting at 43, #1 in the AAC, and #1 outside the P5. I would be publicizing this as much as possible. Want to get recruits attention, show them this graphic as of today. Is the even mentioned in New Orleans?
On Rivals, we are also rated #43, #2 in the AAC (behind Cinncy at 42), and #3 outside the P5 (La Tech is #1 at 40).

Re: 2020 Football Commitments
These are great numbers, even if we dip 15 spots it would still be good
Re: 2020 Football Commitments
When do you think Rivals will rate the 5 commits they haven't rated as of yet? Or do you think they may not rate them at all?tjtlja wrote:Billow, I noticed Rivals also did an update today. Still 13 of 22 rate 3 stars. All 22 on 247 still at 3 stars.

Re: 2020 Football Commitments
They may not rate them at all unless they see them play. It would be nice to see those kids earn a rating. We are talking about Joseph Solomon, Jake Levant, Elijah Champaigne, Ethan Barr, and Noah Taliancich. Two star ratings went to Mason Narcisse, Brandon Brown, Matthew Lombardi, and Natorian Watts.djh wrote:When do you think Rivals will rate the 5 commits they haven't rated as of yet? I don't know what LG, TU23, or FTW think, but Taliancich, Narcisse, Brown, Solomon, and Champaigne look like 3 star guys. I would have Levant (even though he is currently playing out of position), Barr, Lombardi, and Watts as 2 star guys.
Re: 2020 Football Commitments
I think Taliancich, Narcisse, Brown, Solomon and Levant are 3 star players. IMO, Barr, Lombardi and Champaigne as 2 stars.
I like the Watts twins, but they are definitely fishing for more offers/attention (said as much in a recent article). I wouldn't be shocked if we signed them and wouldn't be shocked if they jumped ship. If they do jump ship, we need to sign at least one grad transfer/JUCO player at WR and hope to develop some other guys or else we could be in some trouble next year at that position. Darnell Mooney has been a big hit for our coaches at WR but every other recruit so far has been a swing and a miss. Maybe throwing the ball will help some of these guys develop more.

Re: 2020 Football Commitments
The WR position is certainly a concern going forward. We have swung and missed quite a bit. I hope Jackson and Presley turn this trend around.
Re: 2020 Football Commitments
I don't think these guys are swings and misses. They haven't even had at bats. The previous OC didn't put then into a position to succeed or give them chances. I think that beyond our no 1 & 2, more often than not we saw the best blockers at the receiver position out there the past few years, not the best pass catchers or runners.tjtlja wrote:The WR position is certainly a concern going forward.
