Tulane PD shoots ex-contract employee who allegedly tried to run over campus police officers

https://www.nola.com/news/crime_police/ ... 6f4e1.html

Quote:
According to Tulane, officers "were investigating the presence of a former contract employee on campus" who had exposed himself and trespassed. They tried to arrest him at the corner of Ben Weiner Drive and South Claiborne Avenue, near the school’s football and baseball stadiums; but he allegedly drove off in his car and tried to hit the campus officers, Tulane said. Campus officers fired weapons at the man, who managed to drive away, according to Tulane.

It's generally not a good idea to try to run over someone who has a gun.

Remember when Gimelstob got away with running over and killing a TUPD officer?

Ugh. That whole thing made me sick. Rich kids doing anything they want and getting away with it because DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM?

I'm sure that there's some folks with TUPD who remember. Who could possibly blame them for firing on this guy trying to do the same thing?

Yep. And he didn't learn much:

"A gifted tennis player from Harding Township pleaded guilty in Superior Court to intentionally eluding a Chatham Borough police officer taking him on a high-speed chase.

The athlete, Joshua Gimelstob, 31, pleaded guilty before Superior Court Judge Salem Vincent Ahto Tuesday, June 12, admitting that he ignored the police officer's warning signs to stop, which was a single charge of eluding a police officer in the second degree.

A recommended sentence by the prosecutor's office of five years probation, continued psychiatric treatment, loss of driving privileges for the same five year probation period and 200 hours of community will be handed down by Judge Ahto on July 27, said DiGiacomo.

"Gimelstob is really lucky he didn't kill someone again or kill himself. He was going 120 miles per hour," DiGiacomo said."

Good gracious, lock him up to teach him a lesson. If he just keeps buying his way out of real punishment he'll just keep making bad choices.
