Or, you know, we somehow get a hurricane of dust and everything gets sandblasted. And New Orleans manages to flood during that too.

Did the dustcloud end up actually making it to North America? I don't remember reading about it in the US news (not that I was reading that much US news). I remember the buildup that it was "going to come", but then silence.

I think murder hornets nested in the main N95 mask warehouse in an undisclosed location but were smothered by Sahara dust cloud which killed all the murder hornets but destroyed 100M masks thus proving that both good and bad can come from the same event.

The answer is blowing in the wind (after the original reports the dustcloud either dissipated or was sheared by the Atlantic hurricane season or we just lost interest).
