Tulane football teasing another significant signing is imminent.

Devean Deal of Naaman Forest in Garland, TX, tweets tonight that he will announce a commitment tomorrow. Deal has 20 offers, including Tulane, Kansas, Northwestern, Syracuse and all of the service academies. He was top district selection his junior year as both a wide receiver and defensive end. 247Sports lists him as a prospect at tight end.

Roderic Lewis- 3 star commit just de-committed due to an “issue within the program.” Not sure what this means exactly but we could potentially be seeing a coach exit or something. I have no idea

That could be anything, right? Full class, coach leaving, recruited over

Well that's not exactly great publicity.

Could also be a way of saying "after watching Navy and Houston, I'm not so convinced Tulane is a team on the rise like I was sold by the staff".

It doesn't reflect that great on the kid. Decommit and move on, don't hint at something that "made you do it."

Funny in trying to give an excuse so he didn't look like the typical teenager who changes his mind, he looks even worse

I think it might be this. The staff is realizing they need stronger players on the defensive side. No offense to this kid, but he wasn't recruited by AAC or better schools. Tulane needs to try and start recruiting like SMU and Cincinnati, not like USM or LA Tech. This guy belongs in the Sun Belt, not the AAC.

The way we have played year to date certainly raises questions, especially our style of play. I hope we throw 50 times tomorrow and we give the secondary some help. We are a veteran team that is not playing like a veteran team. Let’s hope tomorrow is a changing point in the season.

Just wanted to give the status of commitments and players to keep an eye on:

Solidly Committed:
Ty Keyes
Kanarius Johnson
TJ Huggins
Michael Lunz
Iverson Celestine
Hutson Lillibridge
Devean Deal
Jaden Handy
Hayden Shook
Donald Lee
Mandel Eugene
Bailey Despanie
Billy Wiles
Kriston Esnard

Soft Commits:
Kolby Phillips- never felt like he was real solid on his commitment. Took down his commitment tweet to Tulane. Still likes Tulane related tweets, but he was interviewed after his commitment and said that he was committed to Tulane but still open to other schools.

Decommits:
Jaden Williams- still in the running with BC and Utah. Others are circling. Will make a decision at end of the month. We are offering the chance to play basketball too. We really want to get this one back if we can.
Roderic Lewis- encouraged to move on and didn't take it well.
BJ Ragland- Committed to Charlotte, 3rd commitment so far.

Here are some guys to keep an eye on:

Ryan O'Hair, OT McDonald, PA
Barylre Davenport, DE Chickasaw, AL
Barryn Sorrel, DL Holy Cross
Jerrell Boykins, DT East Ascension
Da'Veawn Armstead, S Central (BR)
Corey Platt, Jr., ATH Little Rock, AR
Fred Farrier II, WR from Franklin, KY
Tyeus Clemons, DL Harvest, AL
Joker Gill, DE from Mississippi Gulf Coast CC
Xavier Young, DE from Godby HS in Florida (Washington State Commit)
Malachi Lawrence, DL from Louisville, KY
Elijah Spencer, WR from Irmo, SC (Charlotte Commit)
Dontae Balfour, DB/WR from Starke, FL
This one belongs to the Wave.

Thanks for update. May Keyes continue solid. We need a consistent pipeline in quality QB recruiting.

Meanwhile Tulane (together with LSU for that matter) is not Louisiana centric in its recruiting targets/successes.

Platt looks like a nice LB prospect. Getting Sorrell would be a nice local score but he's not the only DE option.

My question would be what ULL commits are we still interested in should Napier take another job?

Keeping Keyes now is more important precisely because we have a QB. We can get two classes of separation between he and Pratt next year. Not discounting Ibieta, just offering a thought.

The two I most want to hold are the two backs. No such thing as enough in our offense.

I have to assume what you mean here. I am ignoring the "free year" until it's more clear what it is, how it's done, and who cares to use it.

It's a blanket free year. Just like the year didn't happen and we get an extra recruiting class. This year's freshman will be freshman whether they want to be or not

Ryan O'Hair is committed to Miami (Ohio).

Tyeus Clemons is committed to Boston College.

As noted, Xavier Young is committed to Washington State.

As noted, Elijah Spencer is committed to Charlotte.

The above list is loaded with good players. Who do we have a realistic chance of landing? Will we take the full allotment of 25? I am somewhat surprised we are not recruiting more DB's (especially if Kolby Phillips is no longer committed).

The following is a list of current seniors who could come back next season (I am excluding graduates and seniors that have redshirted) -

Stephon Huderson
Cam Sample
Patrick Johnson
Jaylon Monroe
Jaetavian Toles
Marvin Moody
Chase Kuerschen
Corey Dublin

How many seniors are expected to return, and will this affect position recruiting?
