Bielema was mentioned for the USM job, which is about the level I thought he was looking at for his next HC job. Nope. The Big Ten is starting to resemble that basketball league UNLV was in during the Tarkanian years.

Another interesting tidbit I noticed below that link(which isn’t carousel related) is the story below that one about Brian Kelly saying he would consider not playing in a playoff game if parents aren’t allowed to attend. Can’t imagine the school or it’s fans would allow him to call that bluff.

What is the state of sports media if such a preposterous grandstanding lie is reported as news?

Illinois really wasted an opportunity to do something different in the Big Ten West. They could've gone after Buffalo's coach Leipold or Kent St.'s coach Lewis. Either of those guys would've brought in an exciting offense that would've challenged that division. Instead Illinois will try to out manball Wisconsin, Iowa, and Northwestern. Good luck with that. Maybe we'll get more quotes like this:

Football Scoop reporting the lsu is firing Bo Pilini after one season. He was paid $7million to coach one year.

Auburn got shot down by Billy Napier. This pm there were rumors they were talking with Bill Clark of UAB. Then there were rumors Clark might say no. Auburn fans online are taking all this well.

They are going to get a coach that is not as good as Gus. Beat Alabama in 3 of the last 8 games. Went to a title game. What a terrible move and financial disaster. No one wants that job to square off with Saban. Maybe Kiffin.

He’s having a hard enough time doing it from a neighboring state. Can’t imagine he’d go to Auburn.

It would be something if Auburn stole a coach from Ole Miss AGAIN.
Maybe there's a pattern here, because now that I think about it, Kiffin does fit the mold of a politician, doesn't he?

Waverider, he'd have a much easier time doing it at Auburn than Ole Miss. Auburn is a step up in just about everything except co-ed beauty pageants. 8)

Didn’t ULL’s last coach pass up several better options? Then he didn’t sustain his success and get fired instead?

advocate reporting that Pellini accepted a one time payment in lieu of scheduled liquidated damages over two years. So say it's $5 million for one year of work as an assistant coach. Plus three other guys are gone as well. Coach Scooby O churns assistants. I'm glad to know as a Louisiana taxpayer that university officials gave O a "budget" here. I guess next guys might even be more expensive than current crew because they'll think that O is on very thin ice and he's not a light guy.

As noted, Harsin to Auburn. Really curious what BSU does here. If you believe the emails, Harsin seemed to be the main driver to put BSU in AAC. Will next guy push the same? Will next guy be successful?

Terry bowden to ULM. Good luck to them. Impossible job as evidenced by who they were able to attract.

Arizona to hire Jed Fisch, patriots qb coach. To me thats an absolute garbage hire, most of all because Jay Norvell at Nevada and Brennan at sjsu are right there. I can't see why hiring a qb coach that can't get cam Newton going would have higher upside than those other guys

To be precise, apparently Bo accepted an immediate cash settlement to get lost in lieu of being on the no-show payroll for the next two years to earn the full contracted amount. Since it's a public record, we'll find out soon enough how much less than $7 million the final tab is. Regardless it's an outrageous amount for a public institution that just announced it is losing $80 million because of COVID effect.

Assuming the reporting here is accurate, Tulane rejoining the SEC is more likely than Harsin keeping Steele as his DC.

To anyone unfamiliar with the ugliness that is (in the words of the story) Auburn's "Booster Culture", read this whole thing. I am impressed that the President and AD stood up to the boosters (probably for the first time ever). I'm sure there were threats of bricks through windows and other such traditional tactics.

That said, if the AD and President have even the tiniest of skeletons in their closets, those will be unearthed shortly by said angry boosters and they (AD and/or President) will be out of jobs. Anyone who has ever had more than a cup of coffee in the state of Alabama knows that Tide/Tigers football rules above all else.

Tom Herman out at Texas. Sark is the top target. Interesting timing. Herman definitely squandered a lot of talent there

Herman didn't deliver but Texas was improved under him. I don't think he's fired because he squandered talent but because he didn't bring enough in.

How Steve Sarkisian is a clear improvement eludes me.
