Not surprising Central Grocery's muff was the pick for Louisiana since its an easy go-to for out of town evaluators and I am never unhappy with one, but any number of po'boys are always great. Depends on time of day and how drunk I am.

For Pennsylvania I was mildly surprised they didn't go chalk with a cheesesteak but the pork sandwich they picked is also a can't miss. Plus, both of those are Philly centric and I'm sure Pittsburgh has its own favorites.

Illinois has roast beef sandwich in Chicago; there is a sandwich in Springfield that is very similar to the Louisville hot brown called the "horseshoe." Incredible open-faced sandwich with a cholesterol-laden cheese sauce. I wish that the article had some "runners-up" to show that they looked outside of certain metro areas when they made their choices.

actually it does... for Mississippi, they name a place in Biloxi as best but say Pirate's Cove in Pass Christian is a close second with their roast beef sandwich... I believe Massachusetts has a best and second best as does NC.

cool story bro.. my buddy (Tulane alum) can walk to Pirate's Cove from his PC house and says it's legit... his son (Tulane alum) gets a shrimp po boy and dips it in the roast beef gravy and it's apparently sublime. I almost booked a flight to Gulfport.
