Confirmed Aviles catching, Groff in left and Laprarie now in right. I’m guessing Burchfield at 1st.

Basically in the 4th inning Jewett says “I started the wrong lineup.”

Aviles slumping, but can’t fault the effort. Has gone all out for several foul balls.

Gillies on about 10 batters too late.

It's now a save situation, so we can bring in our closer. Woopee!

I mean, we couldn't just start the lineup that scored 16 runs about 5 hours ago

Why are these tournaments even a thing? "Hey! Let's burn through a ton of pitching right before another tournament!"

Gillies made that guy look silly. I’m so pissed we didn’t use him at 3-0 or to start.

The teams that are good don’t need to win this tournament, so they don’t really overuse their pitchers.

I understand trying to give Aviles a break after getting beat up behind the plate, but the Stevens over Groff move is baffling. Groff came off the bench with a hit last game.

We need 3 runs this inning to have any kind of chance.

Their starter is averaging 13 pitches per inning. We are making it easy for him.

I don’t know anybody that thinks Jewett is a good coach. Heck, I’m not sure his family does.

Please don’t let a trip to the semi-finals against some really bad baseball teams save his job. This USF team is not good.

Gillies gets out of jam. First scoreless inning for us.

Let’s get back in to this thing.

We need more than these 2 hits, and at least 8 runs to win it. We have 5 turns at-bat to get it done.

Is Minder still playing hurt? He hasn’t been able to catch up to fastballs all year.

Gillies 2 1/3 scoreless ball.

Gillies throwing less than 30 innings this season is Coaching malpractice

Not exactly surprising he hasn’t given up a run. This game was there if he starts it.

Still 7-0.

I still don’t understand starting Trent on short rest when we had guys that were fully rested. This game is reflective of the Jewett tenure.

If he was a true closer and had 30+ save opportunities I would understand. A big part of why I didn’t trust Gillies was because the bigger sample size was his first two seasons when he couldn’t get anyone out. His improvement even from the “preseason” is evident. We may have won more series had he been given a chance to start.

I almost never agree with his moves. Gillies in his third inning of work and pitching great. If you told me he could only go an inning I would get not starting him but the fact that he is still out there tells you the staff knew he could do this.

I’m a big proponent of making somebody beat my best. Gillies is our best.
