It's that time again. The 16 participants are set for the playoffs and the NHL will announce the dates (and times) of the 1st round games after the last regular seaspon game ends tonight. Hope your team made it (sorry Windy). I ususlly go to Pittsburgh for 1st round games, but not this year...just too many other things on the to-do list this year. And in that first round it's the battle of PA again. First time since '12-'13 that the Pens and Flyers have tangled in the playoffs. Pens lost that year. This year I'm picking the Pens in 5 (or 6). I'm picking that result because I couldn't pick the Pens in 3.

Anyway, for those of you who are fans of teams in the playoffs, enjoy!

This is the mantra for this year's Pens and their fans: Maybe a little corny, but what the hey. Games start tonight for about 1/2 the teams, the rest tomorrow night. Let's go Pens!!!

I have watched portions of games other than the Pens, but out of those game I have been watching the Golden Knights more than others. Still can't figure out how they did what they did during the regular season. But whatever they did it worked. Although I do believe they have more former Penguins on their team than any other team...4.

Jackets and Caps has been a real thriller. So far three games and four overtimes.

Vegas eliminates Kings in 4 games. Now they can rest up for about a week before round 2 gets underway.

It is hard to comprehend what Vegas has done as an expantion team in their first year. But whatever the recipe for that is you can bet Seattle will copy it when they land in the NHL.

As long as the league uses the same rules for protecting players, they should be fine

I heard on one of the postgame shows after the VGK won the first rould that the gambling house oddsmakers in Vegas made them the favorites to win the Stanley Cup. Kinda figures. If you could get good odds against the VGK winning the Cup, you would definitely put some $ down on them, especially if you lived in Vegas. So the oddsmakers moved the odds the other way so they wouldn't take a huge hit in Vegas. But in actuality the odds make themselves. All the bookies really want is a 50-50 split (on money bet) since the odds (the vig really) are in their favor.

With the Pens and Preds winning last night that leaves only 2 remaining 1st round series to be determined before heading to round two: Caps/Jackets and Bruins/Leafs.

And with his 4 goal effort last night the Pens Jake Guentzel has out Marioed Mario twice in his short career. 1) Two goals on his first 2 shots in the NHL, and a 4 goal (consecutive also) game in the playoffs. Heady stuff for a guy only 23 years old.

Editing here: Just found out that Mario had a 5 goal game in the playoffs. But in that game four were not consecutive.

Only one game 7 in the first round this year. Leafs @ Bruins. Watched some of game 6 in that series the other night (Leafs won) and I was really like the Leafs quickness and speed. I like the Leafs in that game because of that...speed over physicality. Old time hockey is not the ticket in the 20teens decade.

I think each team has won all of its home games. The bruins looked much better than Toronto in Boston. I'll take the B's at home

4 goals in the third by the Bruins leads them to a 7-4 comeback win. Great game!

Well, if I had wagered on the result on last night's game, I would have lost. Which is why I don't bet on sports. Oh an occasional "beer bet" with friends, but nothing with a bookie. Now on to round two.

My brother lives in Sarasota and has become a passing Bolts fan. Would love to see a Preds-Bolts Cup.
