Saw some reports that Graff is landing the Pels radio gig (replacing one of his predecessors Sean Kelley).

Wow. Have to be happy for him. End of an era for us. God bless you, Graf.

best of luck to him. Loved his style and listening to him call a game.

Sucks for us but great for him. Maybe he can still do baseball? I can’t imagine listening to Tulane games with anyone else. Luckily most football games are on some form of TV.

Congrats to Graff and his family!

Definitely mixed emotions though. I don't think you'll find anyone with as much love for Tulane athletics in general, and baseball in particular.

Which means the team will go to Omaha next year!

Yes, congrats to Graff.

OK, so who is the next Voice?? No one really waiting in the wings.

Zero chance of baseball as the seasons are concurrent. Could see football as a possibility as there'd be little to no overlap and the Pels might be willing to let him out of a couple games. Question then is would we want a different guy for FB vs other sports or have the new guy do all?

Dannen doesn't seem much like a waiting in the wings guy, so I'm guessing a national search?

Gus Kattengel
but before we throw the gig at him or Tim Grubbs I would like to gauge interest from other people. Graf was one of a kind; you're not going to find another Graf but I would like someone with his, er, flavorful way of coloring games and setting the scene

You think that can happen without 'some' Tulane/New Orleans roots??

mostly agree, sr. Except Sean Kelley was really good and he had no TU ties prior to coming here.

considering the niche interest of Tulane athletics I'd say connection to a team is almost a necessity

Depends, is it a "neesh" or "nitch"?

Congrats to Todd; sorry to see him go but totally understandable to move up to the pros.

Kelly's a pro and it showed. Graff could have some suggestions - pretty sure he does.

With the new media package kicking in after next year, with baseball and some basketball games going to ESPN+, they'll probably look for someone who is comfortable in front of the camera too. I can't imagine that we'd have separate positions.

I thought of that afterwards. With the NBA being a 12 month season there’s no way to do both. He could maybe still fill in or take over once the playoffs start.

There's a ton of overlap in football...pro hoops starts in early October.

Outsider Sean Kelley was an excellent announcer. His predecessor from Ohio who had a 1-year run was awful.
Gus and Grubbs have local ties...but they don't have Tulane in the heart like Graff did.
Of the 2, I'd go Grubbs

I really hope it is either of those two.

The timing of this move argues for a temporary solution. Sign up Grubbs for baseball asap; Graf is leaving his team but Tim's team is leaving him.

I would grab Grubbs for baseball and I’d leave Gus on the sideline and doing WBB. Just as Sean Kelley stepped in as a professional and sounded like it, I want a football and b-ball pbp guy that is really good at what they do.
