Thank you for posting that. All my life I had ascribed to the Lord of the Flies narrative how humans would devolve into anarchy left to our own devices. Seeing the long gun marchers only reinforced that perception.

Maybe there is hope for us all. :-D

Remember Golding even won a Nobel Prize. He's not the only school teacher who viewed himself as the dam against anarchic murder as long as his students were never set free of him.

I'm not saying the world is a choice between Hobbes and Francis of Assisi but I'm glad to learn about the Australian rescuing ship captain who preferred a positive view of humanity.
