Considering with the departure of UConn, Temple is now the northeast outlier, it makes sense to have the HQ closer to a lot more of the schools.

Perhaps one main benefits before was it was pretty close to ESPN HQ. New TV deal makes that less of an issue going forward for a while.

It's been the worst kept secret for a year or more but I don't think it was 100% official. Uconn claims it was one of the last straws for driving them out (as opposed to a reaction to UConn leaving as one poster suggests above). I don't buy that, however, UConn was/is so irrational that they've been "gone" for a couple of years, nothing (reasonable anyway) was going to keep them.
