Re: Willie Fritz

Intuitively, the Willie Fritz departure seems implausible to me. He's going to be 63 in April. He is making %1.9 mil.+ (yeah, a lot schools are paying more -- to keep Lane Kiffin MS just upped salary to $9 mil.). He isn't starving. He has said repeatedly that he loves Tulane, the players, and NOLA....

Re: No dea dea

Won’t we be thin at WR next year? Thought he was part of the future We’re going to be hunting in the portal again at WR but we have some good, young players we like including Bryce Bohanon, Jalen Rogers and Chris Brazzell, the latter two are redshirting. We’re also on multiple HS receivers who will...

Plumlee rushed for 40 yards total after the first quarter. We made adjustments in game that worked. The bad start killed us. The speed will not shock us this time.

Re: Spears leaving after this year?

To clear up any confusion: Duece Watts and Shae Wyatt do NOT have the option of coming back. They are both 5th year seniors who did not redshirt so they already took their COVID year. Tyjae and Dorian are leaving for sure. Both have the option of returning but they will play in the Senior Bowl. I am...

Re: I feel bad for Jeffrey Johnson

This ended up being a bad move for Jeffrey both in terms of OU having a bad season and for the fact that he didn't play all that much. He ended up getting into a rotation with 6-7 other D-Linemen and it shrunk his PT. Not only were his stats down, but he proved to NFL scouts that he wasn't a factor ...

Re: 2023 Football Recruiting Thread

A lot of deck shuffling going on right now. You want to capitalize on a big season, you have to clear spots. I’d wait to see what happens before worrying. I think we’re going to finish pretty strong.

Re: Tulsa

Thought Claybrook got bummed up in the game Saturday. WF said today that Canady is still being evaluated by the doctors. Of course, I also count Ray and Celestine in that number. And didn’t Jackson Fort get in the Memphis game for either Tuggle or Remetich due to one them having to leave the game? ...

Re: Tulsa

Anyone ever been to a game at Tulsa? Any tips or restaurant recommendations? I just booked my flight. I lived and worked in the Tulsa area from 2009-2016 and I still travel there weekly for work. The Blue Dome District which is adjacent to downtown has a lot of good places. It just depends on what ...

Re: Baseball lands pitcher ex-Clemson

This kid has a really high ceiling. 6’5 LHP. Was throwing 88 this summer. Should be 90+ by the time he gets here and with a college strength and conditioning program, should be in the mid-90s. I have to think having hired Coach Brittle from Clemson helped us score this commitment.

Re: 2023 Basketball Recruiting Information

We decided a few weeks ago that we were only going to sign one HS player in the early period. Doc can confirm that I told him that sometime in September. We want to make sure that we’re even going to have a spot open first before we commit to anyone. As of now, we only have one definite opening. If ...

Re: Memphis

That may be a bit high if both teams are at full strength but Memphis suffered 3 injuries to key players on defense on Saturday night, two late in the game. If two of Ducksworth, Brockington and Cullens don’t play on Saturday, the line could climb even higher. Cullens is their leader. The other two ...

We've faced some really dangerous return guys in the punting game especially against K-State (returner has 4 career PR TDs), Southern Miss (averaging 16.9 yards per return on 13 returns), Houston (Tank Dell is one of the best players in the conference and averages 12 yards per return) and ECU (avera...

Re: USF

Cincy came out with no energy against USF this weekend. USF took the ball methodically down the field and scored on an 11 play, 75 yard drive to open the game. Cincy comes out and throws a pick on their first offensive play and gives the ball right back to USF who went on a 12 play drive to kick a F...

Re: How could Tulane have actually won this game?

For anyone who doesn't know, Coach O's son is on our staff, so that is why he's been coming to our games. Whatever your feelings are about him, he should be able to go and see his son coach and have the same amenities available to him (a sideline pass) that all of the coaches families do. He's actua...

Re: Jeffery Johnson

Despite OU's struggles, they do have some talent on the D-Line and they play a heavy rotation, so he plays at most 30-35 snaps a game instead of 60+ like he played at Tulane. The thing about JJ that doesn't bode well for him at OU for the remainder of the season is that they pull him off the field o...

Re: First day of preseason camp

Which is why Tulane needs to put out football news daily from August to the end of the year. The receivers were moved because they are good athletes and we have enough of that on offense (let’s hope that turns into production). If one of those guys can turn into a Jordan Sullen or Jeff Sanchez, two...

LG is right about Guerry. He's been covering football for a long time and puts a tremendous amount of time and effort into it. There is no real substitute for being out at practice and seeing it day in and day out. He's a real writer/reporter who has to write to the masses. I get the freedom to writ...

Re: New Roster up

We're going to be judicious with Tyjae. He graduates in December, and if he can stay healthy, I fully expect him to declare for the draft even if he's not going to be picked that high. He's had too many injuries to risk another season. The coaches are mindful of that injury history, and they aren't ...

Will Wallace isn't going anywhere. He was in the portal for about 10 minutes and withdrew immediately. It had nothing to do with the new system. We're pretty solid at TE right now. We feel really good about James, Wallace, Brown, Gunter and Bauman. Bauman apparently isn't finished growing and showed...

A couple of defensive guys who aren’t on the 2 deep right now who could play their way in: Shi’Keem Laister and Tyrek Presley at CB. Shi’Keem has been injured but is a freak of an athlete and is a really long corner. Presley moved to CB from Wide Receiver towards the end of Spring and impressed. He’...

Re: Jaxon Smolik at Elite 11

There’s a reason why we took Smolik over the other QBs we offered. We brought him down to an Elite, invite only camp with other QBs we offered and he crushed it. He did not play in that many games last season which could account for his unknown status. By all accounts, he’s a really good kid with a ...

Daniel Latham isn't coming back. I spoke with Coach Uhlman today at length and recorded a podcast that I just posted. Take a few minutes to listen to him. I was impressed with him and his approach. I think he'll have some very good assistant coach options. https://soundcloud.com/user-774038550/ftw-...
