Re: is there still a David Harris press conf. today
I may have been a little strong in my suggested statement, but I still think a more forceful endorsement of WF and hope for his future at Tulane was called for. The pablum he put out didn't suggest in any way that Tulane would fight to keep him. A strong public statement would have been a shot acro...

Re: is there still a David Harris press conf. today
Harris said he anticipated the WF question. If that is right, he should have been ready to say: "I see Coach Fritz out there today, and I want to tell him something in front of all of you. We know you are a great coach and a great credit to Tulane University and to Tulane Football. What you hav...

Re: is there still a David Harris press conf. today
My take was that he gave canned safe comments on everything. I was hoping he would show some personality and fire. No promises but put up some lofty goals. Sorry but he sounded like a politician trying not to make a mistake or antagonize or offend anyone. Pure PC. Hopeful but not impressed

Re: Back to Cotton ?
Given that Tulane may become sort of a media "giant killer" persona and we brought 30k to Cotton Bowl, are there other bowls that might pick us if we don't get Fiesta or Peach? They could get a lot of hype for their bowl from the national media.

I think he is creating his own style. Hopefully we’ll be saying future backs are “Hughes-esque” 10 years from now. What will endure (so far): -Durability. thanks Poseidon. This is a key feature of his that I’ve taken for granted. As a RB this is huge and rare. He got submarined on one run today and...

The clock was starting after penalty so we called a timeout to give time to fg. Good call get points.QuarterbackU wrote: ↑Fri Nov 24, 2023 4:22 pm If we lose by 4 or less, I’ll have a little asterisk next to us not taking one quick throw chance with Pratt (Senior) on the 5 yard line with ten seconds left and 3rd & 1.

Re: That’s more like it! Tulane 24-FAU 8
I was happy with most of play calling yesterday. He had Hughes going off left side rather than right all the time. He threw a swing pass to Hughes for a key first down. He called at least one jet sweep and several check down passes over the middle. Add to that the halfback pass and you could see our...

Re: Selecting the next TULANE AD
My daughter just went through a similar situation. She was an "interim" CEO at a national non-profit. The charity hired a national search firm to find a permanent CEO and received over 100 applications. In the end, they opted to take her as CEO, the inside person. She said she understood w...

Re: WTF
Since the Oline was banged up and we never called a running play for Pratt (since he is not 100%), Tulsa figured that out and put linebackers on the edge so we couldn't run the sweep and they dared us to throw. They just keyed on the RB every play. Plus, our two best receivers were out, so guys were...

Belichick coaching tree
If you get The Athletic, you will find the great story about the failure of assistant coaches from Bill Belichick. In the story, it talks about how he changes his defense based on the strength of the other team. It is more complicated than that, but that is the basic idea. The whole story is good. I...

Tulsa defense scheme
Here is the plan...on first down, load up on Tulane right side for the run, crashing the linebacker, keying on #21. Dline slants left. On second down, do the opposite to the other side. On third down, blitz with two linebackers, and weak side corner. Man to man in secondary. Have a linebacker spy on...

Re: Three Random Tulane Football Stats & A Question on Offensive Tempo?
For red zone I'd like to see fewer fades and more I formation running and/or play action. this Love the fake to Hughes and Pratt roll out and tosses short pass to Bauman. I think we've scored on that play 3 times this year. Yes and if the db goes with TE then Pratt runs it in. Very difficult to def...

Re: 1-0 again. 30-28 over Rice
As much as I wanted us to score at the end, I approved WF strategy to run the clock. Tulane has had too many last second losses (remember the Army Hail Mary) for us to take a chance on a fumble. I also think we need to give credit to Pratt, the offense, and Nagle for that last drive which used up t...

Really? Try no wins worth mentioning 1960-66 in old Tulane stadium, when opposing teams threaten our goal line early and often, the few students would stand up and cheer the opposing team to score. Ask Cheerleader if I am making it up. You are not making it up! And I was on the field leading the ch...
