Baseball is done, let’s talk spring football

Long season, but we sure didn’t look very good against a bad team.

3 times we go for 2 down 6 points with under 20 seconds to play. You have to try and make it a one possession game.

Re: Right on cue....

It is extremely difficult to rebound out of a zone defense for several reasons. For one, when the ball goes up you have to find a man to box out as opposed to in man to man you know who you have the responsibility for. The also creates a ton of mismatches. How many times have you seen Holloway tryin...

Re: MBB 94 at Tulsa 87

It was a nice comeback and good to see the team fight.

We are 11-5 with all 5 losses against teams inside the top 100 NET and all the wins against teams outside the top 100 (including Dillard here).

Tight losses to Bradley, George Mason and FAU really hurt.

We are so frustrating to watch. The lack of rebounding on both ends of the floor nor even an attempt to is so hard to fathom.

Re: MBB vs UNT

They use 32 seconds settle for a tough look and we can’t rebound it. The essence of this stupid defense.
We promptly leave Edwards wide open for another 3.

Please guard Edwards. Yes, he is on fire but so many are open. Man to man and make him work to get the ball.

Defense and rebounding. They do seem to get every loose ball. Forbes has been atrocious. They need to show him tape of prior seasons. Get to the basket and take 3s in the flow of the game. Right now he is a liability.

Re: MBB vs UNT

This is the essence of Hunter ball. Their best player has 22 points and is 5-5 from three and somehow is wide open on every possession. We are getting killed on the boards and settling for a lot of 3s. It just baffles me that Hunter can’t understand that you have switch defenses.

Re: Hoops W over Fordham 89-81

I went to the game. Cross was in a walking boot and sweats. I was able to ask one of the assistants about it and was told it shouldn’t be serious. Who knows. I saw Forbes grab at his hamstring slightly late in the game. I think it is just the lingering effects from the original injury. We was really...

Re: WHO YOU GOT FOR NEW HC ?

I don't see a lot of obvious candidates at the lower levels other than ones mentioned. Chadwell has it good at Liberty. Sweet paycheck and he can win there over a pitiful CUSA while he awaits the Freeze path to an SEC gig. He'd be great here but I don't see it. Sumrall may try for the same thing, a...

Is there anybody that honestly thinks Hunter will ever take us to the tournament? You can’t rebound out of a match up zone. It’s beyond laughable that he still doesn’t understand that you can’t play it for 40 minutes.

Re: Tulane beats Northwestern State

Tulane’s 3 point shooting issues come down to who is taking them. King, Forbes, Wood and Woods are probably the only players that should ever take a 3. It’s just not Holloway, James, Cross, Williams or Glenn’s strengths. We are terrific at the line and scoring inside 3. It should be our focus. The g...

We play Bradley in the tournament in California. Hopefully we win and get Cal who will be much improved. Mississippi State is supposed to be good, likely top 25 in the preseason polls. I have seen Fordham picked to win the A-10. I am not going to pretend it is a good schedule and I agree we will nee...

A year ago any of us would have signed up for a 3 or 4 loss season and a nice bowl game. Things have changed so much that I think anything but a conference title and the Peach Bowl will be a disappointment to many. It’s great that things have turned around so quickly but the bar has been raised so h...

Isn’t it more likely that the experienced backs will get most of the reps to begin the year especially given our first two opponents? Blocking schemes, knowing the playbook, etc.

I would think the Nicholls game would be their breakout.

For what it is worth, Cal is much improved. They picked up the pick guy that was great at Utah Valley two years, Keonte Kennedy from Memphis and a good transfer from Penn.

The big guy could get 30 rebounds against us.

Forbes, James and King with big games in 102-91 win over Argentina. Had to be pulled apart in the handshake line. It looked like somebody took a real cheap shot at Forbes away from the ball late in the game.

Re: Wave blown out

You can’t win consistently getting destroyed on the boards and allowing so many open looks. We are basically the same team as last year substituting King and Glenn for Cook and Pope. We will go 7 or 8 deep at the most. This is who we are under Ron Hunter. He isn’t changing his defense, his approach ...

Tulane beast S. Korea - on to the medal round

Tulane wins by 18. First half was typical Hunter where the defense left a ton of wide open 3s. King had 14 in the half and we pulled ahead to go up 10 at the break. Dominated third quarter to go up 30. All subs in the fourth and let them cut the lead with awful defense. King is terrific. It’s hard t...

Re: Tulane Beats the Czech Republic 76-72

I watched the entire game and I thought our effort was tremendous. The kids really want to win this. There were some things that stood out, none of which should be surprising. We pretty much stuck with a rotation of 7 guys, we still play exclusively a match up zone which leads to bad rebounding and ...
