Ryan Wright to be Vikings punter?

Unread post by waverider »

He has had a good preseason from the little I’ve seen and today the Vikings released veteran Jordan Berry leaving Wright the only punter on the roster.

He was certainly a bright spot on a team that, well, gave him too many opportunities to show it. Punters usually have a tough time getting an NFL spot simply because of numbers, but Wright certainly has the ability to play on Sundays.

Ryan averaged 56.3 yards on four punts in the last preseason game.

After three games, Wright is averaging 48.8 yards per punt. He ranks tenth in NFL. Back in the day, that was All Pro performance. No more.

I’m sure numbers will decline some by December but like every other position, punters seem to continue to improve dramatically

Wright just completed a pass for a first down on a fake punt.

Fake FG, actually (he's the holder).

Tulane tweeted out the play as one would for an alumnus competing at the pro level. Saints fans immediately responded with how the team shouldn't do that when the play makes the hometown team look bad. Typical troll stuff, but pretty silly from the Saints fans who did respond.

If there's one team in the league that should have suspected that play it should be the Saints. He did it several times here and the media covered it and brought up that he had been a HS QB.

I texted my brother-in law right before the punt telling him they might fake it. Shocking that with all the scouting teams do that nobody suspected it might happen. It would take about 30 seconds of research to look up his background and college stats.

Saints fans silly? never :coolshades:

Don't you know the entire NFL is part of a deepstate plan to rig games against them as it is?

Ryan was named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week.

He’s one of several former players that will be in attendance this weekend.

Great news. I figured when I saw that punt on social media that went like 75 yards in the air, that he had to be in the running.... 8)
