I don’t get the squib kick even if the kicker hadn’t flubbed it. There can’t be more than a 1% chance or so of a kick return TD on a normal kickoff. And if they choose to return it, it will cost them a play or to in time.

Gus Mahlzan is good for one boneheaded decision each game and that was it for this one.

I would say the touchdown pass was boneheaded.

They could have kept the clock moving and kicked a chip shot with 20 seconds or less.

But I do agree, a 10 yard “squib” kick was ridiculous.

Well, we had some close calls that didn’t bounce “our way” in the past 48 hours with some teams in front of us BUT we controlled what we could (beating ranked Cinci).

My guess is that we’ll move past Ole Miss (#19 in Coaches Poll), North Carolina, and a 4-Loss Notre Dame to be #17 in both Polls tomorrow.

What can now happen?

We win on Saturday and Georgia beats LSU - we’ll leapfrog the Tigers. If underdogs Utah and Kansas State lose as well next week, we’ll jump them too into the Top 15.

We can go from 61 consecutive losses against AP Ranked teams to three straight wins in three straight games against AP Ranked teams.

We deserve this. Let’s all enjoy the position and opportunity that we are in.
