Whoaaaaaa Nellie. Hold your horses.

Two days ago it was a high probability we had Penn State. The news that the Rose was strongly considering passing OSU (at their own request) moved it to an even higher possibility we were getting Tennessee. Now USC's loss flips it again to almost certainly USC. And it IS almost certain. But after so many shifts in such short time, lets let things play out.

IF:

~ TCU loses badly enough to miss the playoff, they might end up in Dallas
~Purdue or (God forbid) LSU pull off upsets, they grab the Rose/Sugar bowls, and bump people down, which could easily move us back to Tennessee or Penn State

If I were betting I'd bet big on USC at this point. But the same could have been said about Tennessee and (before that) Penn State. That's why we have a whole complicated thread about it :angel:

For the record, out of the possible options, USC would be my top choice, followed by Tennessee, TCU, Penn State

1) Let's worry about today first
2) USC would be better than other options IMO, but either way, out of our hands, lets just get to Dallas!

I don't want USC because a Cotton Bowl against USC wouldn't be watched by anyone east of California except Tulanians. All the southeastern programs would dismiss it as a meaningless, lame west coast team.

I want an SEC or Big 10 team, no matter who it is, just for conference name optics.

But let's win today.

On the plus side (not for him), their QB popped his hammy last night and would be interesting to see if he plays

So, is this the situation:

TCU makes playoffs despite loss:
Alabama -> Sugar, Tennessee -> Orange
USC -> Cotton

Alabama makes playoff instead of TCU:
Tennessee -> Sugar,
Orange Bowl out of SEC/BIG 10 teams so chooses USC?
TCU -> Cotton?

I suspect that Ohio State might be taken before TCU. Want to see the top 25 tomorrow; we should be moving up a fair bit!

Ohio State is in the playoff, no doubt
Which makes Rose Bowl Utah vs Penn State

During our game they gave some odds for the CFP teams and the 4 expected (UGA, UM, TCU, OSU) were 80%+ and Alabama was like 20% odds.

For whatever that is worth, which is nothing.
