Wandering around somewhere in a matchup zone
Re: 2022-23 College Football Coaching Carousel
???? I don’t follow either program closely but why would Nix go back to Auburn. Didn’t he already use his transfer portal get out of jail card?

That tweet should have been in pink Bay.

Re: 2022-23 College Football Coaching Carousel
Harsin was a weird hire in the first place.
He didn't improve Ark State, and he didn't improve Boise.
And Malzan was much better at Ark State than was Harsin.

It is astounding how many people on Twitter are saying in all seriousness "hey, that Malzahn guy at UCF just beat Cincinnati, Auburn should hire him!"

Yep it was always a weird fit. He was an ok maintainer at those places, but not a grower which Auburn needed. His major weakness was recruiting which won't fly in the sec. He's probably an ok coach but I don't think a program needing a rebuild should look his way.
Re: 2022-23 College Football Coaching Carousel
Thanks. If he doesn’t want to retire to his cabin, I’m sure he can land in his feet with an MWC or Belt HC job.
Are we sure Auburn didn’t hire George Steinbrenner, Jr. as AD?

Yes he was a very bad fit at Auburn, where he was something like 9th choice, but you underrate his tenure at Boise. He went 69-19 there. They were winning big before he got there but winning well over 75% of your games is good everywhere but Tuscaloosa, Athens, and Columbus.

Kelly, Jimbo and Saban (thanks Jimmy Sexton) have set standard for SEC West HC pay. 8-10 years fully guaranteed at $100 million
That would immediately flip a current P2 coach or even an NFL one just like LSU landed Twins pitching coach for 200%+ pay raise for less than 1/2 game schedule

Jim Leonhard won today vs Maryland. I think he’s closing in on locking up the permanent gig at Wisconsin.

Just curious. Any predictions on who gets fired next? No this isn’t a Jimblow watch

Neal Brown at WVU is the morning line favorite among the so-called P5.
I don’t know who the actual betting favorite is but Brown is said to be circling the drain.
The next major college coach to be fired should be Jeff Scott at USF.

Kansas with a win over a top 20 team. Over 43,000 in attendance.

I really don't think WVU has the cash to dump Brown.
Hafley has become a lot more possible after last week. He is having to start d linemen on the o line because of how many injuries they have.
Scott at USF is definitely toast now

Jeff Scott is officially toast as of this afternoon, to no one's surprise
Re: 2022-23 College Football Coaching Carousel
Temple has replaced Tulane as the new coach killer but Tulane does get an assist.
Congrats to 1309 and LG for calling Jeff Scott ouster.
On the Jimblow front, he did an interview today saying he didn’t ask anyone for advice because with his experience, he already knows coaching.
He is really trying extra hard to make aTm buy him out.
C’Mon UMass, make it happen

I didn’t need an ear trumpet to hear the blade hissing its way down to Scott’s neck. I’ve never liked USF but the new AAC needs them to make a good hire.
If West Virginia fired Neal Brown and then wanted Jimbo to replace him, what would A&M do? I know what I’d do, I’d waive the whole thing. Heck, I might pay WVU ten million to take him.

Because it is eminently chatable , I’m not surprised current gossip focuses on Gruden replacing Scott. I truly doubt it happens but it does increase popcorn consumption of football fans everywhere
The Scott Frost rumor as an alternative has more legs if Frost wants to do a Malzahn and make Nebraska pay for him to coach USF.
No insights but if by far the worst team in AAC (until Charlotte arrives) can at least rumor mill those two candidates, external perceptions of AAC remain strong even after realignment.

Re: 2022-23 College Football Coaching Carousel
So the approximate public forgiveness time frame for being a horribly racist, homophobic, misogynist is about a year? Feels like it should be longer.
It would be really awkward to see a guy who had his name removed from the Bucs "Ring of Honor" coaching in that very stadium, would it not?
Re: 2022-23 College Football Coaching Carousel
If he is repentant, we all support him coming back to church. Most would be ok with him joining the choir. But making him pastor?
The only literal analogy I can think of is Swaggart and he in effect owned his church, so he was rehiring himself.
I doubt purgatory sentence is over yet for Gruden. I assume it was an intentional news leak to gauge public reaction which is he is still on no way list
But Frost would be fun and good for AAC

Re: 2022-23 College Football Coaching Carousel
Charlotte hires Michigan “Associate Head Football Coach” Biff Poggi to be their new head coach. I put they title in quotation because I can’t find what he’s not pictured with the staff on the Michigan site despite reports that he’s staying with Michigan through the season. Poggi will be 64 before next season starts. He’s been a HS coach in Maryland for a long time and before that was an investment manager. He had a brief stint as an analyst at Michigan before his second high school HC tenure. He had a couple of college assistant coaching jobs.
