Why Tulane should likely pass on a PAC invite and hold for ACC invite.

If Tulane is offered the P12, for more money, and turns it down, it will be the final confirmation the admin has no interest or intention of ever being serious, and we should all walk.
“We will expect success in all endeavors and be prepared to assess and hold ourselves accountable when we aren't successful. Tulane is a top 40 academic institution and it should expect nothing less from its athletic department.” --Troy Dannen 11.5.16

Well, I have nowhere I would have to go now, but you could get another gig at, say, the Colorado School of Mines, for example....

What's being on ESPN worth in advertising and exposure? If the four schools bolt OU and UW are gone ASAP and the AZ schools will be looking to move. The PAC10 leadership is not very good. I'd prefer to stay in the American, take the remaining PAC12 teams, stay on ESPN and get a bump in revenue

You would be G5 in that scenario and would have American bowl tie ins instead of pac 12 bowl tie ins. It’s why we don’t actually want the pac 12 or acc to fold, we want their names, status and contracts ——-we need them to back fill.

I get what your saying, but with the playoffs starting the bowl tie-ins are likely to change. The ones they have now are"nolasilver wrote: ↑Fri May 26, 2023 9:32 am You would be G5 in that scenario and would have American bowl tie ins instead of pac 12 bowl tie ins. 1. College Football Playoff Semifinal: If Selected
- Jimmy Kimmel LA Bowl vs Mountain West
- Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl vs Big 12
- San Diego County Credit Union Holiday Bowl vs ACC
- SRS Distribution Las Vegas Bowl vs SEC
- Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl vs ACC
- Valero Alamo Bowl vs Big 12
From the ESPN owned and operated bowl games, the Pac-12 will be able to fill one of these three slots ...
- Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl vs Big 12 or C-USA
- SERVPRO First Responder Bowl vs ACC, American Athletic, or Big 12
- Union Home Mortgage Gasparilla Bowl vs Big 12, ACC or SEC
Honestly I am not sure how much of a step up these are.

Rose Bowl status?
Even if that is gone into CFP every year (is it?), Alamo Bowl and Sun Bowl each beat anything AAC has.
Sorry but we are edging into self-esteem training category here

Yeah, other than maybe the Independence Bowl, all of those have a higher stature than our current tie-ins.
Sports Talk radio and most sports message boards are the killing fields of intellectual discourse.

Also it’s not like we couldnt compete to win the new pac 12. Assume Oregon and WU leave. Who are we scared of ? Utah is a very good football school. We don’t know if the 4 corner schools leave, but personally I think it would be fun to kick the crap out of Colorado if they stay. A school with a grand history and still think they are some super power. Let’s give them a reality check.

100%. And even the Independence has more history and longevity than the Cure or Frisco Bowl that basically popped up the last decade.Sophandros wrote: ↑Fri May 26, 2023 11:39 am Yeah, other than maybe the Independence Bowl, all of those have a higher stature than our current tie-ins.

The AZ schools are two of the four schools. OU and UW would love to leave ASAP but they would need somewhere to go. Stanford and Cal are not going to leave their history in the PAC to join a conference with North Texas and UNCC.windywave wrote: ↑Fri May 26, 2023 7:21 am What's being on ESPN worth in advertising and exposure? Refuse any PAC ## invite. Just take a hard look at any conference that offers something from the CENTRAL part of the USA or the EASTERN area.
