Him changing his mind. It made no sense; if it were to have somehow helped Kim (by getting her immunity, for example, or an agreement from Howard's ex- to drop her possible civil suits even) I could have understood it. As is, though, he got absolutely nothing for anyone. Nothing in Jimmy or Saul's background or actions on the show would imply such a stupid move. It doesn't really even get Kim back for him; sure she visited him in prison, but it's not like they're going to be riding off into the sunset together. While Jimmy/Saul could be impulsive, he wasn't that variety of dumb.

just thinking that in his mind, he was getting off easy with the 7 years and Kim was about to have her life ruined and he wanted to be worse off? Really, the only possible explanation.GretnaGrn wrote: ↑Mon Aug 22, 2022 11:35 amEVEN MORE SPOILERS BELOW:Johnny Mac wrote: ↑Sun Aug 21, 2022 7:03 pmspoiler!!! spoiler!! stop reading if you haven't watched the final episode yetGretnaGrn wrote: ↑Sun Aug 21, 2022 6:51 pmI did as well. Which I would buy if she were facing prosecution or had any meaningful assets to lose in the civil suit. It was made pretty clear the DA was going to refuse charges against her (and, really, they wouldn't have much of a case even with her confession--at most she's guilty of fraud). If he was really worried about it, I'm sure the government would have been happy to give him more time (but still waaaay less than 86 years) with an agreement not to prosecute Kim. Even 7 years (an, as Saul would surely know, opening himself up to just as many if not more civil suits with even that plea, along with the feds seizing any remaining money through drug forfeiture) is much worse off than her. Heck, even the initial plea offer was 30 years.Johnny Mac wrote: ↑Mon Aug 22, 2022 12:48 pmjust thinking that in his mind, he was getting off easy with the 7 years and Kim was about to have her life ruined and he wanted to be worse off? I thought the ending was perfect and provided closure. The theme of the episode was regrets and after being Saul one last time to get the 86 year deal dropped to 7, he had a change of heart seeing Kim in the courtroom and regretted becoming Saul. He talks about his brother and even tells the judge, “call me Jimmy”. He wanted Kim to know he still loved her and regretted what he did to her and he knew they would never be together again so he gave up his life to let her have hers.
