Fun fact was telling my wife an hour ago that the AAC should've invited ODU over UNCC...yeah Charlotte is a bigger city but nobody there cares about the school (lived there and now in VA Beach). ECU and Navy are regional rivals and the games in Norfolk would sell out easily.tulaneoutlaw wrote: ↑Sat Sep 10, 2022 4:45 pm Marshall up late on notre dame by 11. Notre dame has no answers. Both qbs look awful. Meanwhile app st is hanging right with Texas a&m. Thank goodness we got the cusa metro teams while the sun belt got the actual good programs.

The Scott Frost era at Nebraska probably doesn’t have too much longer to go. Another one score loss. Ga Southern 45 Nebraska 42

I predict it ends somewhere after Oct. 1. His buyout gets cut in half after that date. Losing 10 straight one score games is something.
Re: 2022 NCAA Football Thread (non-Tulane)
Missouri leading Abilene Christian 17-3 with about 3 mins left in the half. How bad is AC? They fair caught a punt inside the 1 yd line

Good news for Nebraska. It doesn’t look like they’re going to lose by 1 score this week.

If they get whipped the next few games (where it's obvious they weren't going to compete with or without Frost), it's going to really chafe those who care about the extra buyout money they coughed up in canning him last week. And the irony is that their fans will b**ch about it, but the move was clearly done to appease those exact same fans, whom the administration surely felt needed to see a move made.

ULL loses to Rice in Houston, 33-21. Billy Napier is not walking through that door.

Rice is slowly improving; thank goodness, as we'll be playing them ever year.
In other games, Alcorn won at McNeese.
That SMU's defense is leaky isn't surprising. But they left a lot of yards on the table. They have a great receiver.

Arizona State fired Herm Edwards. After Frost last week and now this, time for LG to start the annual "carousel" thread?

I know it’s only one guy, but didn’t one of his assistants get the HC job? I don’t know if any others from Napier’s staff stayed.GSx wrote: ↑Sun Sep 18, 2022 10:58 amNor is that group of assistants (he really had a quality staff).long green wrote: ↑Sat Sep 17, 2022 9:59 pm ULL loses to Rice in Houston, 33-21. Yes it is, because if I don’t do it now I’ll have to talk about four or more openings whenever Georgia Tech and Colorado pull their respective triggers.PeteRasche wrote: ↑Sun Sep 18, 2022 5:07 pm Arizona State fired Herm Edwards. Re: 2022 NCAA Football Thread (non-Tulane)
Missouri drives the field in the final minutes and gets a 26 yard chip shot field goal to win at Auburn... And misses it. We go to overtime.
Missouri's PK is 257 pounds and does not take warm-up kicks. They call him "the thicker kicker". Coulda used a warm-up swing.
If Auburn loses - and they should have already - Harsin would be unemployed before we all sit down for dinner this evening. Still might, even if they win.
Edit: Auburn wins by mere inches. Auburn gets a FG in OT (after Missouri nearly intercepts on 3rd down and jumps offsides on a missed FG attempt, allowing a second successful attempt). On Missouri's possession, player is running for the goal and changes hands with the ball to reach for the goal line (and victory) and loses the ball inches before the line, with Auburn falling on the fumble in the end zone.

App State is down 14-0 to ... Texas State? Meanwhile, UConn has a 14-0 lead on FIU. Weird evening thus far.
Kansas State up early on Iowa State, 7-3, in what my KSU co-worker says is called the "corn vs. wheat game". Go wheat!

Oklahoma destroys Kansas (not nearly as close as the final 10 point difference). Normality returns.
UConn heading for (maybe) their third straight FBS win. That's... not normal.
