Any idea at this time how many players in the portal are from New Orleans or nearby?

LA Tech LB Tyler Grubbs from Holy Cross is now in the portal and tweeted that he received an offer from us.

He has won some C-USA accolades and has three years of eligibility left.

Tech has another linebacker transferring out who probably has more eligibility than Grubbs and might have the speed we like. I can see adding one older guy here but just one. Manny and Corey are ready to lead and we have some promising youth here now and coming in.

On edit: I think the other guy I refer to, Khiry Morrison, does not have more eligibility than Grubbs.

I would have to think he was given info about his future and what his role will be here.

You have to think there will be several more who enter the portal or move on with the education. Given our scholarship numbers, the attrition has to come from somewhere.

We need several more WR’s. Any idea who we have offered? How many will we sign? Our scholarship numbers are already high. How many can actually be on scholarship in 2023? It is so difficult to track all of this since COVID. Is it 85 the limit this year?

Howard is supposed to be following his friend Jack Bech to TCU, who have a likely starter with multiple years of eligibility. I’d tell him to shoot the moon and give Florida a call. If he’s good enough (sometimes these kids are just overestimated) he’d be a godsend to Billy Napier .
