Re: "Welcome to Uptown" special on ESPN+
Nope, waiting for the Memphis game (or later if we decide to go to Memphis, unlikely) cause that way we only need ESPN for about a month.
That said, I'll look forward to watching this when I have it
“We will expect success in all endeavors and be prepared to assess and hold ourselves accountable when we aren't successful. Tulane is a top 40 academic institution and it should expect nothing less from its athletic department.” --Troy Dannen 11.5.16
Re: "Welcome to Uptown" special on ESPN+
I had no idea about this. I’ll try to remember to watch the first one tonight.

Re: "Welcome to Uptown" special on ESPN+
For those interested, there was a follow up saying they'd have 6 episodes (one for every 2 games) for regular season and another for "postseason".

Re: "Welcome to Uptown" special on ESPN+
It’s an in-house Tulane production. So it’s appropriately sanitized. (E.G., it shows Willie locker room surfing but does not include the NSFW chant prelim.)
Some great game field shots you won’t get from ESPN.
Fair warning: it’s a “flavor” view of the football program. It is “narrative” in only the loosest sense.
Glad Tulane is doing it. Good for our fans and a positive view for those not familiar with the team.

Just watched it. I like that they are doing it. UCF has a show as well do some sec teams. I like the practice and locker room shots.

Re: "Welcome to Uptown" special on ESPN+
I was thinking some other conference mate had one on ESPN+ previously, too. SMU, I think, two years ago? I remembered because when I searched for Tulane it would find that episode of their show where they played us (and it had to be two years ago because I didn't want to watch it).

Re: "Welcome to Uptown" special on ESPN+
I just watched it too. Not exactly riveting TV, but little spurts of behind the scenes.
I think Sincere is particularly well spoken.
I wonder how many non Tulane fans watch.
I’m glad ESPN decided to put forth the effort…. Perhaps they were anticipating a special season and wanted to have it recorded just in case……

Everyone should watch if you can. With how much espn drives conference realignment, always better to have more views.

Re: "Welcome to Uptown" special on ESPN+
I had this same thought. I know they are doing several of these for different teams, but this felt like a test to measure how much we might drive views post cotton bowl momentum
Re: "Welcome to Uptown" special on ESPN+
ESPN didn’t put forth any effort. This is entirely done by Tulane’s video team.Carolina Greenie wrote: ↑Thu Sep 21, 2023 9:45 pm I

They could have mentioned the Pratt injury and how that impacted the Ole Miss game. They never mentioned it.
I am liking Shiel Wood more and more.
I am glad ESPN is giving us a platform to showcase our team and I am appreciative of the Tulane production crew.

Several years ago, i sat with his mother at a game and asked about Sincere’s name. She said she wanted to give him a name he could live up to. And he has. Refreshingly 17th century, when we had lots of Faiths, Hopes and Charities.
BTW, she was a very very nice lady. I’m not surprised in the least that her son has succeeded at Tulane.

Name of the game is to always get your name out there. This helps do that. Woulda been nice to have been able to include the usm game, end show with a win.

Re: "Welcome to Uptown" special on ESPN+
Yeah, he even said "golly" once.

I loved how Gloor kept trying to get him to talk about where he likes to eat or go out, and all he got were places and things that Wood does with his young kids. Corey probably doesn't realize the limitations those critters put on your dining and social life.

Agree. Tulane having its own production studio and team (required by the ESPN contract) allows us to have stuff like this made, and ESPN+ gives an outlet for us to see it. I doubt this happens if we end up on Fox somehow.

It will be a long time before I forget the embrace he had with his mother in the tunnel after the AAC championship game. Lasted a very long time, with lots of tears.Baywave1 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 22, 2023 7:22 amSeveral years ago, i sat with his mother at a game and asked about Sincere’s name. Re: "Welcome to Uptown" special on ESPN+
So I finally had some time and tried to watch last night...only option I saw on ESPN+ was the next episode coming 9/28, no way for me to view the first. Anyone else have similar issue?

Did you search "Tulane" within the app? That's usually the best way to find it.
Just checked: When I do that, under "On demand", the last episode still shows.
