What part of it is? The final score was 49-21, but it was 14-7 UGA with 3 minutes left in the first half. A team that had been hot garbage previously was within a score of the #1 team in the country. That's not "drastic improvement" over their previous games? I'd say it is.

Why is Trent Dilfer Coaching at UAB?

After watching the highlights, DC is right in calling it equine droppings. There was no noticeable improvement other than maybe forcing a fumble on a punt return.

This article was before their game against Georgia, but the writer foreshadowed that both Dilfer and Deion would be alike and have big losses!

I don't think you can judge week-to-week improvement by watching highlights of the second game (which were certainly 95% UGA) and without watching their game the week prior...

But whatever. So they improved from "horrid" to "still really bad" or something. Why are we worried what the local sportswriter said about them?

What’s with all the crankiness? USB is not that good. 21 point spread seems legit. But you still have to play game.

Lets depart September 4-1 with s healthy Pratt and i would rate the first month of the season B/B+.

Still reasonable shot at Atlanta

Because we should have a better than reasonable shot at Altanta

I know it was autocorrect, but I like the idea of calling them USB and think I'll do that from now on

It's like the world is going to end because one single sportswriter of a team that isn't even ours took a line that most any good coach would say and ran with it.

Of all the (many) ills in contemporary sports journalism, this seems an odd one for yogwf to spill ink over

That's pretty ignorant of the writer, to be honest. Deion did come to Colorado from Jackson State, and he was dominant there from the start; it was a definite move up for him to go to Colorado, but comparing it to Dilfer's experience coming into USB (agreed with that being their new name BTW) is just factually wrong.

Pete is an honorable, dedicated Greenie, so I didn't want to get into a dead-end debate about whether hyped UAB improvement was or was not faeces Equidae.......

Was Deion going to Jackson State not making a jump to college head coach despite no prior college coaching experience?

From AL.com, quoting coach Dilfer:

“I don’t believe in more victories. I don’t want anybody to think this is the expectation that you come and you compete well with a great team and you feel good about it.”

I’m guessing the editors didn’t read carefully.

Or, perhaps Dilfer is mailing it in from here on out.
