UAB Prediction Thread

Post by waverider »

Defense of the conference title edition. Time to put the target on our backs. The final score will depend a lot on the health of Pratt and Grubbs. If Pratt is more mobile this week and the offense works as planned I could see a large margin of victory.

With Pratt and Grubbs (no indication that he’s not playing, but could be less than 100%)

Got dinged up and went to the tent last week. No word on anything major being wrong, but the cone of silence lives in the Tulane training room....

38-17 Good guys

UAB has a decent to good offense. Their QB completes like 75% of his passes, but most are for like 3-4 yards. Reminds me of the 1991 Houston Oilers. They have no running game whatsoever and their defense is terrible. They'll move the ball some and score a little, but we'll hit them for a lot of big plays on offense. We'll run it a lot in the 4th quarter so we're not going to score 50+.

Tulane 45
Wyverns 21

Every FBS team they've played so far has hit 40. Tulane is FBS, much to the chagrin of a Mr. Cowen.

Anent 1309’s Wyvern reference: Although now associated with fire breathing dragons, the original UAB blazer back in the day was a trailblazer as in the Portland NBA mascot. Kind of evolved over the years. Anyhow boomer trivia from back when South Alabama vs UAB in basketball was a big sunbelt rivalry.

Fun fact. FIU used to be the Sunblazers, which is a much better name than boring old Panthers. I mean, this mascot is amazing.

Tulane 42- UAB 16

I am brought back to my Med School days- watching Pete and the guys play UAB in a close loss while I was eating a "Bartow Burger"

It's time to exact revenge for that dry sandwich

(the thrilling Gormley win in 2004 was insufficient and lacked the panache of having OutKast play halftime as in the 2003 game...but I digress)

I want revenge for that basketball loss and the dry sandwich!
