Devean Deal

Post by tjtlja »

This young man had a helluva game yesterday from his DE position. Credited with 8 tackles, 4 TFL, and one sack. He is blossoming into a terrific player. I apologize if this was mentioned in another thread.

Glad you brought it up. Depth in DL really showed in second half. Tulane often rotated entire line play by play. Made a difference.

By contrast Small played most of game according to Guerry after Grubbs injury sidelined him

He’s having a great season and he has two very questionable personal fouls (one targeting) called on him but he has text book form on his tackles.

I think the targeting call was ok...he led with the crown of his helmet into the QBs chest.

What's the Deal with it taking so long for him to get recognized on here!

I mean hey, why don't they just make the whole plane out of the black box?

Lunz has played a lot. Maybe Mandel or Agu after that?
My guess without Grubbs:

Machado
Small
Lunz
Agu
Eugene Jr

Ah.. yes. Forgot about Love. I’ve heard good things about him but I don’t know where in the depth chart he sits.

Hopefully the bye week will give Grubbs enough time to heal. It’s asking a lot for Machado and Small to play 95% of snaps. It sounds like there’s a large drop off from there to the next man up

It’s hard to tell these days with the Joker and Dog positions that move DEs around like LBs. I may have been thinking of Small (#45 compared to Lunz’s #44) when thinking of who’s played there this season.

Love, Jean Claude Joseph, and Makai Williams. Williams is starting to get time on kick coverage, which suggests he might be the next man up.
